Rules and Submission Guidelines for the “Impella CHIP – Cases” Session
Purpose of the Session
The “Impella CHIP – Cases” Session aims to showcase outstanding clinical cases of Complex High-Risk Indicated Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (CHIP PCI) performed with mechanical circulatory support (MCS) using the Impella platform.
The session is designed to promote education, innovation, and the exchange of expertise in the treatment of high-risk patients undergoing complex coronary interventions.
Eligibility Criteria
Submitted cases must fulfill the following requirements:
- The case must involve a coronary intervention (PCI) performed with Impella mechanical circulatory support.
- The case should include the treatment of complex calcified coronary artery disease.
- Preference will be given to cases incorporating intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) as one of the lesion preparation or calcium modification techniques.
- Cases should provide comprehensive clinical, angiographic, procedural, and outcome data.
- All submitted materials must comply with applicable patient confidentiality and data protection regulations. The submitting physician is responsible for obtaining any necessary institutional approvals and patient consents.
Submission and Selection Process
- All submitted cases will be reviewed by the Course Directors of the “Prevention & Intervention – Central European Summit 2026”.
- Cases will be evaluated based on:
- Educational value;
- Clinical and procedural complexity;
- Innovation and use of contemporary interventional techniques;
- Quality of imaging and case documentation;
- Relevance to contemporary clinical practice.
- Following the review process, six (6) cases will be selected for presentation during the “Impella CHIP – Cases” Session.
- The decision of the Course Directors regarding case selection shall be final.
Presentation Format
Each selected case will be presented during the dedicated session according to the following format:
- 5 minutes – Case Presentation
- 5 minutes – Expert Panel Discussion
Presenters are expected to adhere strictly to the allocated presentation time.
Award Competition
- Following completion of all case presentations, the audience will vote to select the Best Case of the Session.
- Voting will be conducted through the official electronic audience response system available during the session.
- The case receiving the highest number of votes will be declared the winner of the “Impella CHIP – Cases” Competition.
Prize
The presenter of the winning case will receive the Best Case Award consisting of an educational grant to attend EuroPCR 2027.
The grant will include:
- EuroPCR 2027 registration fee;
- Travel expenses;
- Accommodation expenses.
Specific arrangements regarding travel and accommodation will be coordinated by the organizers and sponsoring partners in accordance with applicable regulations and institutional policies.
General Provisions
- Submission of a case constitutes acceptance of these Rules and Submission Guidelines.
- The organizers reserve the right to amend the session format or competition procedures if required by organizational circumstances.
- The organizers and Course Directors retain the right to make the final interpretation of these Rules and Submission Guidelines.
Important Dates and Presenter Benefits
Case Submission Deadline:
September 2, 2026, at 00:00 (CET)
Notification of Selected Cases:
Authors of the six selected cases will be notified no later than September 13, 2026.
Faculty Status and Support:
All presenters selected to participate in the “Impella CHIP – Cases” Session will be recognized as Faculty Members of the “Prevention & Intervention – Central European Summit 2026”.
Faculty benefits will include:
- Complimentary congress registration;
- Travel support;
- Accommodation during the meeting.
Specific travel and accommodation arrangements will be coordinated by the organizers in accordance with the meeting policies and applicable regulations.
